Motor Voter!
Before you do something other than vote for Dole, please consider the following thoughts:
No. It is not a right. It is not a privilege. It is a responsibility--not in the sense that everyone HAS to SHOW UP at the poles like in the good ol' U.S.S.R.! It is a responsibility in the sense that those who take the time to know the issues and understand how to best select representation that will best guard the general interest of free Americans, makes the time to flip the switches at the polls.
Am I being nitpicky?
There is an important distinction between rights, privileges and responsibilities! By calling it a right, or a privilege, it suggests that voting is something you do for yourself. "What do I want... Who do I want to pay for what I want?" When voting is conducted by those with this in mind it's no surprise to see elections that run like the LA Riots!
The election process is NOT a shopping spree. When it is treated as such, it is the very thing that gives strength to those who have enslaved us until the middle of May before we are allowed to begin to provide for ourselves and our families.
VOTING IS A RESPONSIBILITY! This is a selfless act, to be made by those who feel they understand the issues and more important what is right. Naturally the Democrats want to see every man woman child and dog herded through the polls asking for stuff. Then they win--the government grows more powerful because more people NEED something that they're giving away (on someone else's tab).
Naturally the Democrats want to make voting real real simple. Clinton has publicly stated that keeping the poles open for a whole week would be a way to help make voting accessible. This it would... more access to the most apathetic. Some countries have gone further where the voting citizens get a full weeks vacation from work to be sure they have plenty of time to pull the switches.
So far we have "Motor Voter" with the California D.M.V. Soon I suppose we'll have the ultimate Democratic agenda realized with the help of a new "Needle Exchange Voting Registration" program.
By the way, voting is not necessarily supposed to be that easy anyway. Even if we set up voting toll booths on the freeways, the REAL"hard part" is the research one needs to conduct BEFORE they visit the poling booth in the first place!
